Shopping

So I stopped by big lots today and found some items that will be perfect for the office on a budget.

Pillow- $10

Chair $99

White dresser - $85

The priority would be to buy the dresser.
It is huge and will be a perfect replacement
for the antique brown dresser currently in the office.
The cheapest I have found until now has been nothing under $200.

something about turquoise

There is something about these colors that are so inspiring!

Summer Sickness

Turns out you can get the flu in July
So for now, project organize is on hold
This is going to be hard for me to do.
Having to stay home from school and work with an unfinished office to look at
will drive a person crazy!!!
Must stay in bed for now.

Office inspiration board

Inspiration boards are important when it comes to organizing
They allow you to organize your thoughts
into a clear picture of exactly what you want.

This inspiration board is helping organize my vision
of how to bring my office to a wattage scale of 10

Inspiration boards help you to stay on track
with a clear picture of exactly what you want.

This inspiration board lights me up to a 10
so imagine what the room would do....

Home Office

The dry erase/cork-board/art display is a really nice touch to this office.

I love the pops of green and yellow with the white. The pictures tie in perfectly with the room and the crisp white and chrome give it that perfect clean, minimal, modern feel. The curtains are hung high to make the ceilings appear higher.

Graphic Home Office

Again, I enjoy everything but the rug.

Great DIY idea. take out some of the girlishness and it would be a really interesting focal point

Edgy Yet Serene Home Office

Love everything about this office other than the rug. Take out the animal print!!!!

This is a unique mix of blacks, whites, and beiges for a modern office

Office Before and After

I finally have some results on the office space.
Going corner by corner
I tackled the closet, filing cabinet, and desk area.

You could not even see the inside of the closet.
Clothes just pushed their way outside of the closet,
leaving it impossible to find any clothes.

CD sleeves, junk drawer, and markers are held in separate plastic containers
An empty drawer will be used for something I just haven't decided yet

Envelopes stay stacked together according to size and color
Addition notebooks and paper are held in the yellow container

Old Mason jars were used to hold rubber bands and paper clips.

Before it was impossible to find room to write
The clutter just distracted me from getting any work done.
There were bags and boxes filled with everything under the sun.

The desk and corner was stuffed with papers
which are now neatly filed away in 1 small filing cabinet.
The desk top is free of unused clutter and it is possible to study in the area!
The only additional things that are needed to light me up about this corner is the decoration that it is lacking.
Eventually I would love the furniture to be white and have a theme which is nsync with all pieces in the room.
But for now, I am satisfied with the work completed.

So what's my rating?

Before Office Corner : 1
After Office Corner: 7

I really love the beige baskets used to organize. With the white, it really brings a nice clean and natural feel to the room.

Focusing back on the office....

Bathroom quickie

We had a cookout on Sunday.
Needless to say, my bathroom was not in tip top shape
I decided to knock a quickie out and brighten up the bathroom making it guest friendly.
Bathroom before: 3

Bathroom After: 7

That's all for now!

Random thought

Happy to report that all loose papers in the office are now either filed or trashed. Unopened mail has a nice little box for everyone to sort through and there is a landing spot for recently lost/important papers AND and landing spot for incoming mail. I spent 3 hours getting just the closet and corner complete. Next task is the desk drawers (luckily there are only 3). No new pictures until everything is properly put in place.

Donations made:
15 pairs of shoes
10 purses
3 belts
15 clothing items
2 household
9 makeup items
1 hat

I am warned to not be distracted by side projects that might get me off track of the dirty work of organizing so I'm just going to record the things that I want to do once this project is complete. I have been doing pretty good so far about staying on track and I only went shopping one time when I shouldn't have. I have to remind myself to not go shopping for organizers and containers until everything is out in the open and separated in to neat and labeled piles.
Anyways.... onto the random thought....

I think to solve my ugly furniture problem, I'm just going to re-do the old furniture with some sanding and a new coat of paint.

Items getting a face-lift:
Desk
Dresser
File cabinet

I've done a bit of research on how to strip the finish off of furniture and paint it properly without spending too much time or $. Since I obviously can't afford to buy the office of my dreams, I'm just going to have to make it (after the organizing is complete of course).

Have to study now.
